Ateneum and the Rovaniemi Art Museum carry out in co-operation an introduction series of classic Finnish art works in Rovaniemi. The Classic of the Season displays art works of Finnish Golden Age from the Ateneum collections. They are all outstanding national art works beloved by Finns. This time Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s early painting Boy and the Crow from 1884 is on show. Gallen-Kallela was fascinated by looking for the essential nature of the Finnish people. The popularity of his art works witnesses how much he influenced on our idea about what the original Finnishness is.
