Established in 1997, the Chinese Orchestra of Fudan University, is affiliated withthe Art Education Centerof Fudan University. Students from various departments and year levels perform in the Orchestra under the direction of professional teachers graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. It is one of the major Chinese orchestrasfor students in Shanghai. The Orchestra has four main sections, including plucked strings, bowed strings, woodwind, and percussion.

The Orchestra is committed to promoting Chinese traditional music and culture. As an important platform for the Jiang’nan Sizhu Music (the String and Wind Music of South of the Yangtze River) Project at Fudan University, the Orchestra performs many pieces of Jiang’nan Sizhu music, which has been recognized and supported by experts.

The Orchestra is active in various cultural events and performance competitions inside and outside the University. In the past few years, it has won several awards, including the first prize of the China National College Student Art Exhibition. At the same time, the Orchestra also holdsconcertson regular basis, and has performeda series ofmusicpieces,including traditional music such as A Moonlit Flowery Night on The Spring River, Step by Step, Colorful CloudsChasing the Moon, andalsoplenty of new works. Itpromotes both tradition and innovation, assisting in many different ways to developChinese traditionalmusic. The performance of the Orchestra has been highly welcomed and acclaimed by teachers and students on campus.

To further promote Chinese traditional music, the Orchestra's footprint has expanded overseas through performances in various Confucius Institutes and other cultural institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland,and Luxembourgand so on. Usingacombination of presentationsand performances, the Orchestra has and continues to promoteChinese traditionalmusic and Chinese culture to the world.

As the beauty of this traditional music resonates, the bridge of cultural exchangeis built. As the saying goes, "Music has no boundaries". Through music, the Orchestra hopes to bring people from different cultural backgrounds closer together.
