An extensive production of contemporary Finnish Ceramics will be seen at the Rovaniemi Art Museum in the spring. The versatile exhibition shows how diversely the medium of clay bends in the hands of talented artists.
On the Edge -exhibition offers the most interesting contemporary phenomena in ceramic art. The aim is to increase awareness of ceramics as a medium, and bring forth the versatile competence and richness of ceramics in Finland.
The exhibition is produced by the most northern ceramic centre in the world, the Arctic Ceramics Center (ACC), located in Posio. It offers an excellent opportunity for the ceramic artists to focus on their work in a peaceful place, surrounded by beautiful arctic nature.
The theme of the exhibition, On the Edge, reflects ceramic art in continuous change and Finland's arctic location at the margins of Europe. In connection to the exhibition, a conference will be held in the autumn, organized together with the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). It aims to internationally strengthen and increase the appreciation of ceramic culture and the awareness of Finnish art.
