Exhibition history 2014-

ARTAPESTRY 4 is the fourth juried touring exhibition of tapestry organized by the European Tapestry Forum. 31 textile artists from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Czech, England, Scotland, Belgium, Poland, Austria and Finland are participating the exhibition.

During the last few years, textile art has become more significant in visual arts. For the Rovaniemi Art Museum, Artapestry4 exhibition is a new, interesting occupation to make different fields of visual art better known. At the international tapestry exhibitions arranged in different parts of Europe, we can see the newest and very best creations at the field.

The exhibition is a selection of mainstream textile artworks that address a wide variety of contemporary issues and themes. The connecting thread is that the artworks are made using the loose bundle of textile techniques that we call tapestry and the collection ranges from tapestries in the classical style to work that incorporates more experimental approaches and techniques.

A richly illustrated catalogue as well as an international seminar and lectures, will accompany the exhibition in Rovaniemi.
