taiteilijatiloja_uutinen.jpg   ARTISTS´STUDIOS 23.3.-19.8.2012
The exhibition opens the door to the workshops and ateliers of Finnish artists. Photographer Jussi Tiainen and his camera have peeked into the workshops of well-known contemporary Finnish artists. The exhibition transports visitors to places where few of us have ever been, to the private space of artists. In addition to the workshops, the exhibition also includes works of art created in them.

uutinen_säres.jpg   REIDAR SÄRESTÖNIEMI 26.5.-25.11.2012
The art of Reidar Särestöniemi is much anchored in his home environment. In his works one can find the sunny summer night, autumn colours, snowy fells, reindeer, willow grouses and the scenery of the nightly grounds of Särestö. Through these images, poetic and dreamy state of mind can be transmitted to the viewer; a world where the fish play and the reindeer become moonstruck. In the art of Reidar Särestöniemi, the nature of Lapland obtains its full blossom and shows all its colours.

Finnish contemporary art from the collection of the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Art Foundation. The exhibition shares thoughts about time and the feelings time creates. The different rooms have themes such as: autumn, night, continuation, eternity and summer. Its name the exhibition has received from the graphic drafts of Kari Laitinen which are a combination of multiple different techniques.

Schjerfbeck.jpg   MEETING POINTS OF ART 20.9.–25.11.2012
The significant collection of Pohjola Bank Art Foundation covers Finnish art from the golden-age until the present day. Throughout its history the Bank has kept an open mind what comes to its acquirements of artworks and continues being very active with its purchases. Albert Edelfelt, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Pekka Halonen and Helene Schjerfbeck were contemporary artists of their time and much spoken of in the artistic circles. On the other hand, the most recent additions to the collection are good examples of phenomena characteristic to our time. To select pieces from the past and the present and to set them side by side has served as the red thread for the exhibition.
